- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, sliced or diced
- 4–5 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1 tbsp olive oil or butter

- Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cook beef: Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook ground beef with onion until browned. Drain excess fat and season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Make sauce: In a bowl, whisk together cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth.
- Assemble: Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish. Top with half of the beef, half of the sauce, and a sprinkle of cheese. Repeat layers.
- Finish: Top with remaining cheese.
- Bake: Cover with foil and bake 50 minutes. Uncover and bake 10–15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and potatoes are tender.
- Serve: Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, add sliced mushrooms or bell peppers. You can also swap cream of mushroom for cream of chicken soup.
