- 20 frozen or homemade gyoza dumplings
- 6 cups chicken or vegetable broth
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece ginger, sliced
- 2 cups Napa cabbage, chopped
- 1 cup shiitake mushrooms, sliced
- 2 green onions, sliced
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional: chili flakes or chili oil for heat
Instructions
- Prepare broth: In a large pot, combine broth, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, and sesame oil. Bring to a gentle boil.
- Add vegetables: Stir in Napa cabbage and shiitake mushrooms. Simmer for 5 minutes until vegetables soften.
- Cook gyoza: Add gyoza dumplings to the broth. Cook according to package instructions (usually 5-7 minutes) until dumplings float and are cooked through.
- Season: Remove ginger slices. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt, pepper, and optional chili flakes.
- Serve: Ladle soup into bowls, garnish with sliced green onions. Serve hot.
Notes
For a vegetarian version, use vegetable broth and vegetarian gyoza. You can also add tofu or other veggies for extra nutrition.
