Description
Grandma’s Thanksgiving Stuffing is a classic, flavorful side dish made with bread, herbs, onions, and celery. Perfectly seasoned and baked to golden perfection, it’s a holiday favorite for any Thanksgiving table.

- 10 cups cubed day-old bread (white or sourdough)
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 large onion, diced
- 3 stalks celery, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tsp dried sage
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2–3 cups chicken or vegetable broth
- Optional: 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Heat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Sauté vegetables: In a large skillet, melt butter and sauté onion, celery, and garlic until soft, about 5–7 minutes.
- Combine ingredients: In a large bowl, mix bread cubes, sautéed vegetables, sage, thyme, salt, and pepper. Gradually add broth until mixture is moist but not soggy.
- Bake: Transfer to prepared baking dish and cover with foil. Bake for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake an additional 15 minutes until golden on top.
- Serve: Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve warm.
Notes
For extra flavor, add cooked sausage, cranberries, or nuts. This recipe can also be made a day ahead and baked before serving.
