Instructions
- Place the potatoes in a large pot, cover with cold salted water, and bring to a boil.
- Simmer until fork-tender, about 15–20 minutes, then drain well.
- Return to the pot and let steam dry for 1–2 minutes to remove excess moisture.
- Using a potato ricer or masher, mash until smooth.
- In a saucepan, heat the milk and butter until warm and melted.
- Gradually stir the warm mixture into the potatoes until silky and creamy.
- Season generously with salt and pepper and drizzle with olive oil if desired.
