Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) carrots, peeled and sliced into 1/4-inch rounds
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp brown sugar or maple syrup
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp fresh thyme or parsley for garnish (optional)
- 1–2 tbsp water, if needed
Instructions
- Prepare carrots: Peel and slice carrots into 1/4-inch thick rounds.
- Cook carrots: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add brown sugar, salt, and pepper. Stir until combined.
- Glaze: Add carrots and toss to coat in the butter-sugar mixture. Cover and cook for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add 1–2 tbsp water if carrots need more moisture to cook through.
- Finish: Remove lid, increase heat slightly, and cook for 2–3 minutes until glaze is slightly thickened and carrots are tender.
- Serve: Garnish with fresh thyme or parsley and serve warm.
Notes
You can substitute honey or maple syrup for brown sugar for a different flavor. For a richer taste, add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the glaze.
