- 4 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/8 teaspoon cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Optional: white chocolate drizzle or powdered sugar for topping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Melt the butter and chopped chocolate together in a microwave-safe bowl, heating in 20–30 second intervals and stirring until smooth.
- Whisk in the brown sugar and molasses until well combined.
- Add the eggs and vanilla, mixing until the batter becomes glossy.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt, and all spices.
- Fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture just until combined—do not overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 22–26 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
- Cool completely before slicing. If desired, drizzle with melted white chocolate or dust with powdered sugar.
Notes
For extra fudgy brownies, remove them from the oven when the center is slightly soft—they will set as they cool. Add chocolate chips for richer texture or increase ginger for more spice. Store in an airtight container for up to 4 days or freeze up to 2 months.
