    • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)

    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 large egg
    • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

 

  • For the Garlic Butter:
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Warm the milk until lightly heated (not hot). Add sugar and yeast, stir, and let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
  3. Add the yeast mixture, egg, and softened butter. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Cover the bowl and let the dough rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch the dough down and divide into 12 equal pieces. Shape each into a smooth ball.
  7. Place rolls in a greased baking dish. Cover and let rise again for 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Bake rolls for 18–20 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
  10. Mix melted butter, garlic, parsley, and salt.
  11. Brush warm rolls generously with garlic butter and serve immediately!

Notes

For extra softness, brush the rolls with melted butter before baking as well. Add grated Parmesan to the garlic butter for a cheesy finish. Dough can be prepared ahead and refrigerated overnight—just shape and rise before baking. These rolls freeze beautifully for up to 2 months.
