Description
Garden‑Fresh Red Sangria is a refreshing, herbaceous take on the classic wine punch. Bursting with juicy berries, crisp cucumber, and aromatic basil, this sangria captures the best of the garden in every sip — ideal for summer picnics, brunches, or patio parties.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 bottle (750ml) light red wine (like Pinot Noir or Garnacha)
- ¼ cup elderflower liqueur or white vermouth
- ¼ cup lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
- 2 tablespoons honey or agave (optional)
- 1 small cucumber, thinly sliced
- 1 cup strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1 cup raspberries or blackberries
- ½ lemon, sliced
- ½ cup fresh basil leaves (plus more for garnish)
- 1 cup sparkling water or cucumber soda (added before serving)
- Ice cubes
Instructions
- Make the Sangria Base: In a large pitcher, combine red wine, elderflower liqueur, lemon juice, and sweetener if using. Stir well.
- Add Garden Ingredients: Add sliced cucumber, strawberries, berries, lemon, and fresh basil. Stir gently to combine.
- Chill: Cover and refrigerate for 2–4 hours to allow flavors to meld and herbs to infuse.
- Finish & Serve: Just before serving, add sparkling water and ice. Garnish with extra basil and cucumber ribbons if desired.
Notes
For the freshest flavor, bruise the basil slightly before adding. Use English cucumber for its crispness and minimal seeds. Elderflower adds floral depth, but you can substitute with dry white vermouth or skip it entirely for a lighter taste.
