Description

French Apple Custard Pie 🍏πŸ₯§ combines tender apple slices with a creamy custard filling inside a buttery crust. Elegant, smooth, and perfect for brunch, holidays, or any dessert table!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust
  • 5 cups peeled and thinly sliced apples (Granny Smith or Golden Delicious)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon butter, cut into small pieces (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C). Fit the pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish and set aside.
  2. Arrange the apple slices evenly in the pie crust.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together sugar, flour, and salt. Add eggs, milk, vanilla, and nutmeg (if using) and whisk until smooth.
  4. Pour custard mixture over the apples, making sure they are evenly coated.
  5. Dot the top with butter pieces.
  6. Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the custard is set and a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool for at least 2 hours before slicing to allow custard to set completely.

Notes

✨ Tip: Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for depth of flavor. Serve chilled or at room temperature with a dusting of powdered sugar or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
