Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box white cake mix (plus ingredients to prepare as directed)
- 1 package (3 oz) strawberry Jello
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup cold water
- 1 tub (8 oz) whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
- 1 1/2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
Instructions
- Bake the Cake: Prepare and bake the cake according to box directions in a 9×13-inch pan. Let cool for 15 minutes.
- Poke Holes: Using a skewer or fork, poke holes all over the cake.
- Add Jello: Dissolve Jello in boiling water, then stir in cold water. Pour slowly over the cake, letting it soak into the holes. Refrigerate for 2 hours.
- Top with Whipped Topping: Spread thawed whipped topping evenly over the chilled cake.
- Decorate Like a Flag: Use blueberries to create the stars section and sliced strawberries to form red stripes.
- Chill and Serve: Keep chilled until ready to serve. Slice and enjoy your patriotic masterpiece!
Notes
Make sure the cake is fully cooled before adding the Jello mixture. You can prepare this a day in advance for extra convenience. Add a layer of vanilla pudding under the whipped topping for a creamy twist!
