- 1 lb ground beef or ground lamb
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 cup beef broth
- 3 cups mashed potatoes (prepared or homemade)
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet, cook ground meat over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add onion and garlic; sauté until softened.
- Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Add beef broth and frozen vegetables; simmer 5 minutes until thickened.
- Transfer meat mixture to a greased baking dish.
- Spread mashed potatoes evenly on top of the meat mixture.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top if desired.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes until top is golden and bubbly.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm!
