  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder (optional)
  • 1 lb breakfast sausage, cooked and crumbled
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 cups cubed bread (day-old or toasted works best)
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley or chives for garnish (optional)

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. Layer cubed bread evenly in the baking dish, then sprinkle cooked sausage and shredded cheese over the top.
  4. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread, sausage, and cheese. Press down gently to ensure bread absorbs the egg mixture.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 10–15 minutes until top is golden and eggs are set.
  6. Garnish with parsley or chives before serving.

Notes

This casserole can be made the night before and baked in the morning for a hassle-free breakfast. You can also swap cheddar with mozzarella or pepper jack for variation.
