- 1 box yellow or white cake mix (plus ingredients listed on box)
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
- 1/4 cup sugar (for macerating strawberries)
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Optional: additional strawberries for garnish

- Prepare cake mix according to box instructions and bake in two 8-inch round pans. Allow to cool completely.
- Slice strawberries and toss with 1/4 cup sugar. Let sit 10–15 minutes to release juices.
- In a bowl, whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
- Place one cake layer on serving plate. Spread a layer of whipped cream, then top with macerated strawberries.
- Place second cake layer on top and repeat with whipped cream and strawberries.
- Garnish with additional strawberries if desired. Chill 30 minutes before serving for best results.
Notes
For an extra-moist cake, brush layers with a bit of strawberry syrup or simple syrup before adding cream.
