Instructions
- Preheat oven: Preheat to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Cream butter & sugar: In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add egg, milk, red food coloring, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Roll dough into 1-inch balls and roll each ball in granulated sugar.
- Place dough balls on prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 8–10 minutes, until set but still soft.
- Remove from oven and immediately press a Hershey’s Kiss into the center of each cookie.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
For best results, chill the dough for 20 minutes if it feels too soft. Add the Hershey’s Kisses immediately after baking so they stick without melting completely.
