  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 tbsp red food coloring
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Extra granulated sugar, for rolling
  • 2430 Hershey’s Kisses, unwrapped

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream butter & sugar: In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add egg, milk, red food coloring, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  6. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and roll each ball in granulated sugar.
  7. Place dough balls on prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 8–10 minutes, until set but still soft.
  9. Remove from oven and immediately press a Hershey’s Kiss into the center of each cookie.
  10. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For best results, chill the dough for 20 minutes if it feels too soft. Add the Hershey’s Kisses immediately after baking so they stick without melting completely.
