- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups old-fashioned oats
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3 cups peeled, diced apples (about 3 medium apples)
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- Optional: 1/2 tsp nutmeg or vanilla extract for extra flavor

- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. Stir in melted butter until mixture is crumbly.
- Press about 2/3 of the crumb mixture into the prepared pan to form the crust.
- In a separate bowl, toss diced apples with granulated sugar, lemon juice, and optional spices.
- Spread the apple mixture evenly over the crust.
- Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture on top of the apples.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes, until top is golden brown and apples are tender.
- Cool completely before cutting into bars. Serve as is or with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
Notes
You can substitute half of the apples with pears for a variation. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
