  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder (optional)
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream or coconut cream
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp sugar or honey
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

  1. Add chicken to the crockpot.
  2. In a bowl, mix yogurt, garlic, ginger, garam masala, paprika, turmeric, cumin, and chili powder.
  3. Pour mixture over chicken and stir to coat.
  4. Add tomato sauce and sugar.
  5. Cover and cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours.
  6. Stir in butter and cream during the last 20 minutes.
  7. Shred or cube chicken as desired.
  8. Serve over rice or with naan bread.

Notes

For thicker sauce, remove lid during the last 30 minutes. Adjust spice level to taste.
