Description
Classic Red Sangria is a bold and fruity Spanish punch made with red wine, fresh fruit, and a splash of brandy. It’s perfect for summer sipping, casual gatherings, or anytime you want a refreshing, crowd-pleasing drink.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 bottle (750ml) dry red wine (Tempranillo, Garnacha, or Merlot)
- ¼ cup brandy
- 2 tablespoons orange liqueur (like Cointreau)
- 2 tablespoons sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1 orange, sliced
- 1 lemon, sliced
- 1 apple, chopped
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1 cup sparkling water or club soda (added before serving)
- Ice cubes, for serving
Instructions
- Prepare the Fruit: In a large pitcher, combine sliced orange, lemon, and chopped apple.
- Mix the Base: Add the red wine, brandy, orange liqueur, orange juice, and sugar. Stir until sugar is dissolved.
- Chill: Cover and refrigerate for at least 2–4 hours, preferably overnight, to let the flavors meld.
- Serve: Add sparkling water and ice right before serving. Stir and pour into glasses with some fruit in each.
Notes
Use a dry, fruity red wine and avoid oaky varieties. Feel free to add seasonal fruits like berries, peaches, or grapes. Adjust sweetness and brandy to taste. For a non-alcoholic version, substitute grape juice for wine and omit liquor.
