  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • Optional: 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • Optional add-ins: 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans, chocolate chips

  2. In a large bowl, mash bananas until smooth.
  3. Mix in melted butter, sugar, beaten eggs, and vanilla until combined.
  4. Add baking soda, salt, and optional cinnamon; stir gently.
  5. Fold in flour just until combined. Add optional nuts or chocolate chips.
  6. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake 55–65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Paula Deen’s version is rich and buttery. For extra moisture, you can add a tablespoon of sour cream. Store wrapped at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
