- 3–4 very ripe bananas, mashed
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Optional: 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- Optional add-ins: 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans, chocolate chips

- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, mash bananas until smooth.
- Mix in melted butter, sugar, beaten eggs, and vanilla until combined.
- Add baking soda, salt, and optional cinnamon; stir gently.
- Fold in flour just until combined. Add optional nuts or chocolate chips.
- Pour batter into prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake 55–65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Paula Deen’s version is rich and buttery. For extra moisture, you can add a tablespoon of sour cream. Store wrapped at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
