  • Yield: 20 pieces 1x

Description

This Classic Christmas Toffee is rich, buttery, crunchy, and coated with smooth chocolate and festive toppings. Made with simple ingredients like butter, sugar, and almonds, it’s the perfect holiday candy for gifting, cookie trays, and Christmas celebrations—easy, nostalgic, and irresistibly delicious!

Ingredients

Scale
    • For the Toffee:
    • 1 cup unsalted butter
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1 cup chopped almonds or pecans (optional, for layering)

  • For the Topping:
  • 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts or holiday sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt butter, sugar, and salt over medium heat.
  3. Stir continuously until the mixture reaches a deep golden color or 285–300°F (soft crack stage).
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the hot toffee onto the prepared baking sheet and spread evenly.
  6. Immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee and let sit for 2 minutes.
  7. Spread the melted chocolate into an even layer.
  8. Top with chopped nuts or festive sprinkles.
  9. Let cool completely at room temperature or refrigerate until firm.
  10. Break into pieces and enjoy your classic holiday toffee!

Notes

For extra crunch, sprinkle chopped nuts on the bottom before pouring the toffee. Use a candy thermometer for best results. Store the toffee in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months.
