- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt

- 2 tbsp granulated sugar (for topping)

- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan or line with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, mix melted butter and brown sugar until smooth.
- Add egg and vanilla extract and stir until combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- Gradually fold dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Sprinkle granulated sugar mixed with a pinch of cinnamon evenly over the top.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares.
Notes
For extra flavor, swirl in a bit of caramel or sprinkle with chopped nuts before baking. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
