The BEST Chocolate Crinkle Cookies Dessert Recipe

  • Author: Recipe Inspire
  • Total Time: 3 hours 27 minutes
  • Yield: 24 cookies 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

These Chocolate Crinkle Cookies are rich, fudgy, and perfectly soft with classic crackly powdered sugar tops. They taste like a brownie and a cookie combined—deeply chocolatey, chewy in the center, and irresistibly festive for the holidays or any dessert craving!

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Cookies
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • For Rolling
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix cocoa powder, sugar, and oil until combined and thick.
  2. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Add dry ingredients to the wet batter and mix until a sticky dough forms.
  5. Cover and chill dough for at least 3 hours (or overnight) for best crinkles.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  7. Scoop dough into balls, roll each in granulated sugar, then generously in powdered sugar.
  8. Place on baking sheet and bake 10–12 minutes until puffed and crackled.
  9. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Chilling the dough is essential for dramatic crinkles and thick, fudgy cookies. For richer flavor, use high-quality cocoa powder. Rolling in granulated sugar first helps the powdered sugar stay bright and snowy after baking!
