- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (15 oz) chili with beans
- 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- Salt & pepper, to taste
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
- Fresh green onions or parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and onions over medium heat until browned. Drain excess grease.
- Add garlic, chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute.
- Stir in the chili with beans and tomato sauce. Simmer for 3–5 minutes.
- Spread the chili mixture evenly into a 9×13 baking dish.
- Sprinkle 1 cup of cheddar cheese over the top.
- Arrange the tater tots in an even layer over the cheese and chili.
- Bake for 30–40 minutes, or until the tater tots are crispy and golden.
- Remove from the oven and top with the remaining 1 cup of cheddar cheese.
- Return to the oven for 5 minutes, or until the cheese melts.
- Garnish with green onions or parsley and serve warm!
Notes
💡 Tip: Add jalapeños or pepper jack cheese for a spicy kick! This casserole can also be made ahead and baked when ready to serve.
