- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 cups thinly sliced potatoes (Yukon or Russet)
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 tbsp butter, cut into small pieces
- Optional: chopped parsley for garnish

- Preheat oven: Preheat to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook beef: In a skillet, brown ground beef with onions and garlic. Drain excess fat. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika.
- Prepare sauce: In a bowl, mix cream of mushroom soup with milk.
- Assemble casserole: In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, half of the beef mixture, half of the cheese, and half of the soup mixture. Repeat layers.
- Dot the top with butter pieces.
- Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 35–40 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 10–15 minutes until potatoes are tender and cheese is melted and golden.
- Garnish with parsley and serve warm.
Notes
You can substitute cream of mushroom soup with cream of chicken or celery soup for variety. For extra flavor, add cooked bacon or sautéed mushrooms into the layers.
