- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup diced apples (peeled)
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce (plus more for drizzling)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together melted butter and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla.
- In another bowl, mix flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Stir into wet mixture until just combined.
- Fold in diced apples.
- Spread half the batter into prepared dish, drizzle with caramel, then top with remaining batter. Swirl gently with a knife.
- Bake 28–32 minutes, or until golden and set in the center.
- Cool completely, drizzle with more caramel, cut into squares, and enjoy!
Notes
Use tart apples (like Granny Smith) for the best balance with the sweet caramel. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
