Description
These Bloody Red Velvet Cake Pops are creepy, rich, and totally perfect for Halloween! Moist red velvet cake mixed with frosting, dipped in white chocolate, and splattered with edible ‘blood’ make these spooky treats a hit at any party.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups crumbled red velvet cake (baked and cooled)
- 1/3 cup cream cheese frosting
- 12 oz white chocolate or white candy melts
- Red gel food coloring or edible red gel
- Lollipop sticks
- Styrofoam block or cake pop stand
Instructions
- Make cake mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine crumbled red velvet cake with frosting until it forms a moldable dough.
- Form balls: Scoop and roll the mixture into 1-inch balls. Place on a parchment-lined tray and freeze for 15–20 minutes.
- Insert sticks: Melt a small amount of white chocolate, dip each stick in it, and insert into the cake balls. Chill again to secure.
- Dip: Melt remaining white chocolate and dip each cake pop, coating evenly. Let excess drip off and set upright in a foam block.
- Decorate: Once set, splatter red gel or food coloring over the pops using a brush or flick with a fork for a “bloody” effect.
- Serve: Let the gel dry slightly before serving. Store in fridge until ready to serve.
Notes
For best results, use homemade or boxed red velvet cake. You can make the cake pops a day ahead. Use gloves when splattering for less mess!
