- 1 lb breakfast sausage
- 1 (16 oz) can refrigerated biscuits, cut into pieces
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 cups whole milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 6 large eggs
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cut biscuits into quarters and spread evenly in the baking dish.
- Cook sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Remove sausage and set aside, leaving drippings in the skillet.
- Add butter to the skillet. Once melted, whisk in flour and cook for 1–2 minutes.
- Slowly pour in the milk while whisking to form a smooth gravy. Add salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Simmer until thickened.
- Stir sausage into the gravy and pour evenly over the biscuits.
- In a bowl, whisk eggs and pour them evenly over the casserole.
- Top with cheddar cheese if desired.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes or until biscuits are golden and eggs are fully set.
- Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, add a pinch of crushed red pepper to the sausage gravy. This casserole can also be prepped ahead—assemble fully, refrigerate overnight, and bake in the morning.
