- 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup French fried onions, divided
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook green beans: Boil or steam green beans until just tender, about 5 minutes. Drain well.
- Mix sauce: In a large bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Combine: Stir in cooked green beans and half of the French fried onions.
- Assemble: Transfer mixture to a baking dish. Sprinkle cheddar cheese on top if using.
- Bake: Bake uncovered for 25 minutes. Remove from oven, sprinkle remaining fried onions on top.
- Finish baking: Bake an additional 5-7 minutes until onions are golden and crispy.
- Serve: Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, add cooked bacon bits or use fresh mushrooms sautéed in butter instead of canned soup.
