  • 1 loaf day-old French bread, cubed
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Butter or nonstick spray for greasing

  2. Spread half of the bread cubes evenly in the dish and top with half the blueberries.
  3. Repeat with remaining bread and blueberries.
  4. In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk, cream, sugars, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  5. Pour egg mixture evenly over the bread.
  6. Cover tightly and refrigerate at least 4 hours or overnight.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Bake uncovered for 45–50 minutes until set and golden on top.
  9. Let rest 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve with powdered sugar, maple syrup, or a lemon glaze. Frozen blueberries can be used without thawing.
