Description

This savory-sweet Apple Bacon Jam is rich, smoky, and bursting with flavor. Perfect as a spread for burgers, sandwiches, or holiday appetizers, this jam will instantly elevate any dish.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb thick-cut bacon, chopped
  • 2 medium apples, peeled and finely diced
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook bacon: In a large skillet, cook bacon until crisp. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside, leaving about 2 tbsp bacon fat in the pan.
  2. Sauté onions & apples: Add onions and apples to the skillet and cook until softened and caramelized, about 10–12 minutes.
  3. Add garlic & seasoning: Stir in garlic, brown sugar, smoked paprika, and cayenne; cook until fragrant.
  4. Deglaze: Pour in apple cider vinegar and maple syrup. Scrape up browned bits from the pan.
  5. Simmer: Add bacon back in, reduce heat, and let simmer for 25–30 minutes until thickened, stirring occasionally.
  6. Cool & serve: Allow to cool slightly before serving. Store in an airtight jar in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

Delicious on toast, burgers, grilled cheese, or served with a holiday charcuterie board. Warm before serving for the best flavor.
