- 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 4 medium potatoes, peeled and sliced
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Optional: fresh parsley for garnish

- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, mix ground beef, bread crumbs, milk, egg, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Form into 4–6 patties.
- In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes and onions.
- Place beef patties on top, then layer the remaining potatoes and onions.
- Spread cream of mushroom soup evenly over the top layer.
- Cover with foil and bake for 60–70 minutes, until potatoes are tender and beef is cooked through.
- Remove foil, sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese, and bake an additional 10 minutes until cheese is melted.
- Garnish with parsley and serve hot.
Notes
For extra flavor, sauté onions before layering. You can also substitute cream of chicken or celery soup for a slightly different flavor.
