Description
This American Flag Layered Taco Dip is a festive and flavorful appetizer that’s perfect for the 4th of July or any patriotic gathering. With bold Tex-Mex layers and a red, white, and blue design, it’s as eye-catching as it is delicious.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (16 oz) can refried beans
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup guacamole
- 1 cup salsa or pico de gallo
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup sliced black olives
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- 1/2 cup crumbled queso fresco or white cheddar
- Blue corn tortilla chips or blue food-dyed sour cream (for flag stripes)
- Optional: chopped green onions, jalapeños for garnish
Instructions
- Layer the Dip: In a 9×13-inch dish or platter, spread the refried beans evenly as the base. Add layers of guacamole, then sour cream. Top with salsa, shredded cheese, and olives.
- Create the Flag: Use cherry tomatoes to form red stripes, queso fresco or white cheese for white stripes, and blue corn chips or blue-dyed sour cream for the flag’s top-left corner. Add olive slices as “stars” if desired.
- Chill and Serve: Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to let the layers set. Serve with tortilla chips.
Notes
You can make this dip up to 6 hours ahead of time and store it covered in the refrigerator. Use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream for a lighter version. Perfect for cookouts, BBQs, and patriotic parties!
